These steps may vary depending on the mileage-reporting option selected
To better understand if a Mileage-Based User Fee could work for New Jersey, the Coalition is conducting a Pilot Program and needs your participation and insights. Participation takes four simple steps. Scroll down to learn more!
Enroll today by clicking here. Enrollment is now open through Aug. 31, 2022! You will sign up through a private company, Azuga Insight, who is partnering with The Eastern Transportation Coalition on this Pilot. You will not be charged any fees to participate. Enrollment requires two pieces of information: your vehicle identification number (VIN) and odometer reading. Your VIN number can be found on your vehicle’s registration, insurance card and directly on the vehicle (click here for more information).
To thank you for your participation, incentives are available after enrollment. You can receive up to $100 for participating. Click here to learn more!
You can select how you want to record your miles when you sign up. You can choose from a plug-in device with GPS, a plug-in device without GPS, a manual odometer entry, or in-vehicle telematics. If a plug-in device is selected, you will receive it in the mail after enrollment. Then plug in and drive! Not sure which mileage reporting option to select? Click here to compare your options. The Pilot has strict privacy protection measures to safeguard your data, such as:
Participants will be sent a pre-pilot survey a few weeks after reporting their mileage. Participants who complete the survey will receive a $50 gift card to redeem at a location of their choice (click here to learn about incentives).
Drive as you normally do! The Azuga Insight Dashboard will collect and manage your daily mileage and fuel use. If you select a GPS device, you will be eligible for premium dashboard features such as trip logs, vehicle health information, a carbon footprint calculator, safe zone notifications, and more! Learn more about the premium features here.
In addition, you will receive monthly statements to show how many miles you drive and the cost difference between a traditional fuel tax and a Mileage-Based User Fee approach. No actual money is involved or exchanged.
If you opt in to receive a plug-in device (with or without GPS) as your preferred mileage-reporting option, return the device at the end of November 2022 (instructions will be accompanied with the device).
If you prefer to participate without a device (manual odometer entry or in-vehicle telematics), you don’t need to worry about this step.
Participants will be sent a post-pilot survey shortly after the pilot closes. Participants who complete the survey will receive an additional $50 gift card to redeem at a location of their choice (click here to learn about incentives).
